Australia Analysis

Australia is one more team who experienced the change of head coach after the qualification. Bert van Maarwijk succeeded Ange Posteglu as soon as they qualified for the the World Cup, but will resign after the competition and be replaced by Graham Arnold.

AAfter qualifications they have played 4 matches, and lost only 1. Their approach is defensive minded, as they look to keep compact and organized 4-4-1-1 structure. From the attacking point of view their attacks are one dimensional, with Rogic being the focal point of penetration. If Rogic is unable to find pockets of space to receive the ball into, long balls are sent forward.

  • In other situations attacks are developed down the flanks, with lots of crosses being delivered into the box. They have good playmakers in Mooy and Rogic, which combined with the pace of Leckie and Kruse make them very dangerous in transition.
