Morocco 0-1 Iran

The most beautiful header of the competition so far came in a shape of an own-goal signed by Bouhaddouz.

TThere’s no love without pain, like if you do not score, it is very likely you will concede. That’s the love story between Morocco and Iran.

  1. Morocco dominated most of the match in a qualitative and quantitative way, but failed to capitalize on its dominance, and funny enough, as they could not score in the opposition’s goal, they found an alternative way of scoring and get into the history books. Netherlands was cheering for Morocco in such a great extent, that Bouhaddouz wanted the world to know that himself could fly like van Persie, and so he did. Goal or own-goal, it does not matter, it is a goal anyway. That’s the love poem Aziz Bouhaddouz wrote to Iran in their first World cup match for 20 years.
  2. Carlos Queiroz placed a team to perform in the same manner that Greece and Portugal have won their UEFA European Championships, in 2004 & 2016 respectively. Herve Renard’s African spell could not influence the outcome of the match, as he could not bring to life the results that he once obtained with Zambia and Ivory Coast, when he won the African Cup of Nations in 2012 and 2015. Morocco will have to wait and qualify for The Qatar’s 2022 FIFA World Cup in order to break their curse of not winning their opening match of the greatest competition between nations worldwide.
  3. We should praise the public transportation in Russia, because it was something that never lacked inside of Iran’s penalty box. One bus, two buses, big bus, small buses, and in the end, it was the driver that made the difference. If not the best player on the field, Bouhaddouz was surely contender to the MVP’s performance with that amazing goal. Some people might say it is ironic, but then again, Alanis Morissette will have to sing another beautiful song before Morocco could win against all odds. Odds which amount the sufficient points accumulated from the matches against European Champion’s Portugal and 2010 World Champions’ Spain.
  4. Fashionably late, it is the 95’ minute that blessed Iran with the goal that made the difference against Morocco in a match that had some conservative chances that were squandered and perhaps Iran will be trying to emulate Greece from 2004.
