Iceland 1-2 Croatia

Croatia’s B team shatters Icelandic dreams

PPerisic’s last breath goal came after a weak performance by the defensive line of Iceland that by giving the ball away sloppily exposed themselves to the power of the Croatian offensive lines.

  1. Where we could be talking about penalties and controversial claims, we will stick with the fait-divers fact of Gylfi Sigurdsson converted that gold opportunity into a goal allowing Iceland to dream about a potential win that could have been a bold one, even if Argentina would win by one goal difference their match versus Nigeria. It was not to happen!
  2. Croatia now heads to the 1st of June to a match against with a basic Danish team that when they don’t have Kasper Schmeichel, Christian Eriksen and potencial sparkling moments of Sisto, they are too weak to even consider any opportunities of silverware like in 1992.

Back then eventually it was enough to have the father of Kasper + Brian Laudrup and the respective defensive line to rely upon and beat the previous European Champions’ Netherlands and World reigning Champions Gemany, but football has evolved and as of today, it would not be good enough to outclass other nations.
