Costa Rica 0-1 Serbia

Kolarov – The wine flavor that Iniesta wants to trade in Japan… Like old wine, they both get better with the age.

HHistorically Yugoslavia, granted 2 wins out of 2 matches with their 2 dismembered nations, Croatia and now Serbia. While we were amazed with Ronaldo’s free kick, we did not had to wait for long in order to witness another moment of brilliance. Kolarov – The Skipper.

  1. The memorable curling free-kick goal will be played over and over again in the most beautiful goals in the history of the World Cups and that has proved to be enough to separate both sides.

Costa Rica tried too hard to take just one point out of the match and while they were not negligent, they were made to pay the lack of ambition of something bigger, because by the time they conceded the goal, they became frustrated and unable to have a real say through the remaining of the match.

Another goal by a set-piece, it’s becoming a trend in the tournament alongside own goals. May we see the more under the same signature as Eusebio, Pele, Maradona, Cruyff, Yashin, Puskas, Zidane, etc etc?

  2. Serbia displayed a dominant and physical approach with moments of technical ability in a greater passing strategy, lowering slowly the levels of stamina of Costa Rica, to the extent, that the only endurance left, was taken over by the emotional pressure of getting something from the match. As they wanted to take the 0-0 home, the 1-1 result would have been a victory, unfortunately for them that has not materialized.

Normally, in football, when you do not score, you get penalized with the goals from opposition, and it felt like that was going to be the path, because Mitrovic was wasting chances that even Stevie Wonder would capitalize upon.

  3. Serbia were so full of themselves that they nearly got penalized for their shortage of depth when Calvo dismembered the Balkan Nation with a strike that while was dangerous, it was out of target.

Like Tyson + Holyfield, we had great challenges, one most noticeably between Navas and Mitrovic, but without the Suarez moment (…). Then, we had the substitute Joel Campbell trying to take the whole nation on his back, unfortunately for him, it only resulted in dangerous opportunities, but never converted with the so much desired goal.

  4. Costa Rica 0-1 Serbia
